10 Day Tanzania Wilderness Safari

Tanzania is the soul of Africa teaming with big herds of various wildlife. On this safari you will have the best of Tanzania wilderness and beach experiences. The safari starts with a visit to the Arusha area and you proceed to the beautiful Tarangire NP with a large population of wildlife and beautiful landscape. Continue the safari to Serengeti with endless plains and big herds of different wildlife. The Ngorongoro crater is home to big cats and carnivores. Enjoy the different interactions with Tanzanian people and end with a visit to the ever beautiful Zanzibar.

Day 1: Arrival at Kilimanjaro International airport
Arrive in Tanzania for your amazing travel exploring this land.  On arrival at Kilimanjaro International airport, you will be picked up and transferred to your lodge.

Depending on time of arrival, visit the local markets in Arusha town and stop at a local restaurant for a Tanzanian Local dish.

Day 2: Transfer to Tarangire National Park
Leave the lodge after breakfast and drive to Tarangire National Park for game drive. The park runs along the line of the Tarangire River and is mainly made up of low-lying hills on the Great Rift Valley floor. Its natural vegetation mainly consists of Acacia woodland and giant African Baobab trees, with huge swamp areas in the south. Both the river and the swamps act like a magnet for wild animals, during Tanzania’s dry season. The Tarangire National Park is reputed to contain some of the largest elephant herds in Africa.

Day 3: Game drive
After an early breakfast, your guide will pick you up and drive to Tarangire National Park for game drive. You will return to the lodge for hot lunch and a siesta. At 1600 you leave with the Maasai Warrior for nature walk around the area. You can encounter wild animals such as zebras and antelopes. You will then return to the lodge for dinner.

Day 4: Transfer to Serengeti – Seronera Area
After breakfast you leave the lodge and drive via Ngorongoro crater and head towards the Serengeti National Park, leaving the highlands behind, you descend into the heart of wild Africa – the Serengeti National Park – with its endless plains, rolling into the distance as far as the eye can see.  En-route you will visit a Maasai Boma where you will get the chance to see the Maasai performing their traditional dances. You may even get a chance to join in! You then head to the central park area, known as the Seronera area, one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park, featuring the Seronera River, which provides a valuable water source to this area and therefore attracts wildlife well representative of most of the Serengeti’s species.

Day 5: Full Day Game drive
“Spend a full day exploring the vast Serengeti plains. You will rise early to enjoy an early morning game drive. At sunrise, you may encounter animals grazing in the beautiful light of sunrise and predators may still be busy hunting before retiring to rest for the day. Sunrise on the Serengeti is not to be missed and extraordinary photographic opportunities will abound at this magical time of day. You have the option to return to your accommodation for a hot lunch or to opt for a packed lunch which can be enjoyed at one of the various picnic sites found in the Serengeti. After lunch, you will continue on a game drive. Around the time of dusk be on the lookout for lions.

Day 6: Transfer towards the Mara river
On this day you wake up early and depart with your packed breakfast and lunch and drive further to the Mara River where will find along the way groups of wildebeests moving towards the river or congregating along the river waiting for their time to cross. The wait to see them crossing is like waiting for a baby to be born and everyone is alert. It is also the time for the monsters crocodiles waiting for their meals after almost a year long. We will spend our day there along the Mara River areas.

PS: this is for August when they are crossing to Masai Mara. Any other time, you will have a game drive but no guarantee of crossings.

Day 7: Transfer to Ngorongoro
You will have breakfast and then check out and drive via Ngorongoro to Karatu, enjoy the varied landscape.

Day 8: Game drive in Ngorongoro Crater
After an early breakfast, your guide will pick you up and drive to Ngorongoro crater. After check in you descend down 600 meters into the crater for a full day game drive. Supported by a year round water supply and fodder, the Ngorongoro crater supports a vast variety of animals, which include herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, and giant African elephants. Another big draw card to this picturesque park is its dense population of predators, which include lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs and the ever-elusive leopard, which sometimes requires a trained eye to spot. You will visit Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern corner, which is one of the main features of the crater. A large number of flamingos, hippos and other water birds can usually be seen here.

Day 9: Transfer to Arusha
Today after breakfast, you will have time experiencing Cultural Activities in Karatu with a chance to have a local lunch. After this experience, your driver guide will transfer you to Arusha in the afternoon.
