Murchison River Lodge

Murchison Falls National park is the largest park in Uganda and is home to the mighty Murchison Falls. Murchison River lodge located on the southern bank of River Nile offers guests mid-range and comfortable accommodation to suit all budgets. The lodge has well-appointed en-suite thatched cottages, en-suite thatched safari tents each with private facilities and comfortable already set up camping tents. If guests prefer to bring their own tents, the lodge offers covered areas for self-catering in the camping site including a fire pit and shower and toilet facilities.

The unique and attractively furnished en-suite thatched cottagesat the lodge are open plan with a double bed upstairs and two single beds downstairs. The thatched cottages have a wide veranda with a sofa, table and hammock where guests can sit and relax as they enjoy the view. The cottages are well equipped with linen, hanging mosquito nets, clean towels, solar lights, solar hot water plus a child’s stair gate. However the cottages do not have fans or air conditioning.

The en-suite thatched safaritents offer guests at the lodge comfortable accommodation. They are situated amongst the bush with three positioned close to the river bank and the outside area has a table and safari chairs. Each tent is well lit with solar lights, fashioned with wooden doors, has clean towels and the tents have a private permanent bathroom with provision for solar hot water. All the tents are twin shared although four of them can include a third bed and a baby cot if required. However the tents do not have fans or air conditioning.

The comfortable camping tentsare all twin shared and equipped with solar lights, bed linen, clean towels and hanging mosquito nets but do not have fans or air conditioning. The furnished covered tents are located in the bush and have the spacious shower and toilet block conveniently located next to the campsite’s main entrance. Situated towards the end of the property away from the river is a campsite for guests travelling with their own camping equipment. The camp site has facilities like fire pit, kitchen areas, clean campsite shower and toilet facility. Guests should ensure that all food items are kept in the vehicles considering monkeys have no respect for canvas.

Murchison River lodge has a beautiful and well-crafted restaurant, bar and terrace area where guests can enjoy stunning views of the River Nile and Murchison Falls national park.  The lodge has a well-stocked bar and all meals are served in the restaurant with complimentary tea and fresh coffee available from 4 pm. The lodge offers delicious meals prepared with fresh ingredients. Guests will most likely spot vervet monkeys pass through the lodge, see elephants hippos wading through the water.

Murchison River Lodge has a carefully built swimming room facility among a setting of trees with a view of the River Nile where guests can relax and cool off. All resident guests have access to the swimming pool. In the evening the pathways are lit with lanterns and the lodge recommends that their security staff guide you from the restaurant to your accommodation facility due to the wildlife activity at night.
