8 Days Kenya Migration Safari

This 8 Days Kenya migration safari starts with a visit to Samburu national reserve where you will have full day of game drives. The safari will proceed to Lake Nakuru national park famously known for its birdlife especially the flamingos that form a pink hue across the lake. The safari will end in the beautiful Masai Mara national reserve well known for its bountiful wildlife and the great migration that happens between Masai Mara and the Serengeti national park in Tanzania.  On this safari, look out for the big 5 (lion, buffalo, elephant, leopard and rhino) and other game like zebras, wildlife, olive baboons, warthogs, antelopes etc.  

Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi 

Your safari begins today with your arrival in Nairobi at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport where you will be welcomed by a Kagera Safaris representative and transferred to your hotel for overnight.

Day 2: Samburu National Reserve  

Wake up and have a hearty breakfast at your lodge/camp after which you transfer to Samburu national reserve towards the north of the country. On arrival have lunch and go on an afternoon game drive. Look out for the African leopard, giraffes, lions, elephants, cape buffaloes, impalas, water bucks, warthogs, Grant’s gazelle, olive baboons and different species of birds as well. Retire to the lodge in the evening after a successful game drive and have dinner.

Day 3: Samburu National Reserve 

Have a full day of game drives in the Samburu national reserve. The game drives will give you an opportunity to look out for wildlife such as the big 5, zebras, beisa oryx, somali ostrich, giraffes, waterbucks etc. The game drives will give you excellent game viewing and in addition beautiful landscape sightings and rare bird species.  

Return to the lodge later in the evening and enjoy a glass of wine over dinner as you reminisce on the day’s sightings.

Day 4 & 5: Transfer to Lake Nakuru national park 

Have an early morning breakfast and transfer to Lake Nakuru national park a beautiful wildlife haven famously known for its thousands of flamingos. You will have a short stop over at the Thompson’s falls for photo moments before continuing towards the rift valley. Lake Nakuru national park is regarded as the “Birdwatcher’s paradise” and is home to both the black and white rhino, the endangered Rothschild’s giraffe among a wide variety of game.

Day 6: Maasai Mara National Reserve

After a hearty breakfast you will drive to Masai Mara national reserve. The journey will take you through the vast landscape and nature of Kenya as you drive down the escarpment via Narok to Masai Mara. On arrival at your lodge you will be warmly welcomed with a fresh glass of juice. After a delicious lunch head for an introductory evening game drive to Masai Mara before your dinner.

Day 7: Maasai Mara National Reserve  I  Game drive 

Breakfast in the morning will prepare you for a full day of game viewing in the famous Masai Mara National reserve across the savannah grassland and rolling hills. You will carry packed lunch from the lodge and then head out in to the reserve for a whole day of spectacular game viewing. Look out for wildlife – big herds of lions, leopards, elephants, the elusive cheetah, Thomson’s gazelle, wildebeest, buffaloes, impalas, topis, spotted hyenas, zebras, baboons and the graceful giraffes. You return to the lodge or camp later in the evening for dinner.

Day 8:  Transfer from Masai Mara to Nairobi 

Today marks the end of your amazing Kenya Safari as you will have breakfast in the morning and then drive back to Nairobi. You arrive in Nairobi in time for lunch and then transfers to the airport for your flight out of Nairobi
