18 Days Uganda Culture and Wildlife Safari

This 18 days Uganda cultural and wildlife safari will give you an opportunity to experience the local culture, scenery, nature and wildlife of Uganda – “The pearl of Africa”. 

This safari will take you to the source of R.Nile-Jinja as you continue to the fascinating Sipi falls. You will continue to Moroto where you will have an opportunity to interact with the Karamajong culture. From here you will proceed to Kidepo national park with vast wildlife and continue to Murchison falls national park well known for its thunderous waterfalls. You will continue to Lake Bunyonyi in the hills of Kigezi. And you will end your safari with an amazing visit to the home of zebra-Lake mburo national park and a relaxing boat cruise on Lake Victoria.

Day 1: Arrival to Uganda
You start your 18 Days Uganda primate and wildlife safari on this day with your arrival at Entebbe International Airport where you will be welcomed by a Kagera Safaris representative. After this you will be transferred to your hotel for overnight.

Day 2: Transfer to Sipi Falls via Jinja for Boat trip on the source of the Nile 
Today after breakfast you depart to Sipi falls , the journey is magical. You will capture  

You have a stopover at Sezibwa falls, a Buganda cultural site rich with birds, folktales and great scenary. On arrival we shall be met by a resident tour guide who will lead us explaining the different sites and legends surrounding. From here you proceed to Jinja through beautiful landscapes of sugar and tea plantations, rain forests. On arrival you will take a relaxing boat boat ride on River Nile as it starts exiting Lake Victoria. 

Your continue to Sipi falls.

Day 3: Hike to Sipi falls and Coffee tour
Today you will hike the amazing 3 waterfalls that come from out of different areas of Mt Elgon thus forming the Sipi falls. These were named as the most romantic waterfalls by the guide book- Lonely Planets. You will spend the morning hiking these 3 waterfalls. 

In the afternoon you will go for a coffee tour around the area or can visit a home to have a coffee experience with the ward winning coffee that is by far the best Arabic coffee you will find elsewhere.

Day 4: Transfer to Moroto
Today you will transfer to Moroto and along the way you will capture different views and the beautiful landscape. You will have your lunch along the way. 

On arrival at the lodge you will check in and have your dinner.

Day 5: Life in a Karamajong village ( Manyatta)
This day you will visit the Karamajong village and take part in different activities of the locals. You will an opportunity to learn about their culture and lifestyle like their traditional games, beading, dance, harvesting that is very interactive. 

 Day 6: Visit to Karamoja Cultural Museum
Today you will tour the small museum hosts with the most treasured cultural collections. This museum has a rich cultural heritage of the whole Karamoja region and valve the scientific collaboration between Ugandan and French researchers in the field of paleontology. The Karamamoja museum is commited to the collection, conservation and promotion of the rich cultural heritage of Karamoja region. 

Day 7: Transfer to  Kidepo National park
Today after your breakfast you will embark on your journey to Kidepo valley national park. Along the way as you drive you will have short stopovers for pictorial moments.

Day 8 Game drive in Kidepo National Park
After your breakfast you will go on a morning game drive during which you will look out for Elephants, Lions, Leopards, Water bucks, Kobs, Cheetahs, Zebras, and also bird life. This offers an excellent opportunity for photography moments during the game drive and opportunity to watch the animals feed and stroll in the national park.  

Kiepo valley national park is the true wilderness of Africa with the largest herd of Cape Buffaloes found anywhere in Africa.

Day 9: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park 
You will start your journey to Murchison falls. After this you drive directly to the park.

Day 10: Game drive and Nile Boat Safari 
After your morning breakfast you will go on a game drive through the Northern section of Murchison Falls National park which is the largest national park in Uganda. You will look out for animals like elephants, lions, giraffes, water bucks, bird species, Uganda kobs and other wildlife experiences.  

In the afternoon you will go on a relaxing boat cruise on River Nile. You will look out for different animals along the shores that live in the water and those coming to drink water. The animals to look out for include elephants, hippos, crocodiles, bird species, and reptiles. Along the boat cruise you will get to watch the thunderous water falls from below. 

Day 11: Transfer to Fort Portal
On this day you start your journey to Fort Portal town that is referred to as the tourist city located in the western part of Uganda. 

Enjoy viewing of the beautiful scenery, landscape and nature of Uganda along the way and photography moments as you transfer there. On arrival at the lodge you will check in and have your dinner.

Day 12: Visit Amabere caves and Fort Portal town tour 
Today you will visit Amabere Ga Nyina Mwiru that is a cultural site with intriguing historical beliefs. From here you will hike up Nyakasura hill while there you will be able to view 3 crater lakes and Rwenzori mountains. 

You will do the Fort Portal town tour.

Day 13: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyo
On this day you will transfer to Lake Bunyonyi. Along the way you will have an opportunity to view the amazing protruding hills with terraces by locals practicing farming on them.  

This lake is the second deepest lake in Africa and is in kigezi that was named as “Switzerland of Africa” by Churchill.

Day 14: Boat ride and island visiting
Today you will take a relaxing canoe ride on Lake Bunyonyi–“the place of many little birds” to some of the 29 islands. While there you will get to know some of the cultural and history of the area. While on the boat you will see the beautiful hills terraced with gardens of different owned by the locals. 

In the afternoon you can go bird watching or hike up a steep hill to capture good scenery of the lake and islands.

Day 15: Transfer to Lake Mburo National park 
After your breakfast you embark on your journey to Lake Mburo national park that is known as a home of zebras that is located in the south western Uganda. You will pass through beautiful landscapes, plantations, and farms. Later you will do an evening game drive

Day 16: Game drive and Boat Cruise
Today morning after your breakfast you will start on your game drive in the park. While on it you will look out for animals such as zebras, buffaloes, leopards, antelopes. You may get an opportunity to view zebras for a good time. After which you have an afternoon boat ride on Lake mburo.

Day 17: Transfer to Entebbe via Equator and evening sunset cruise on Lake Victoria
This day you will start your journey to Kampala and continue to Entebbe. You will have a short stop over at the Equator monument where you will have an opportunity to take some photos and experience standing both in the northern and southern hemisphere.  

You will go for an evening relaxing boat cruise on Lake Victoria.

Day 18:  End of your safari and Departure
Today marks the end of your 18 days safari and you will head to Entebbe Airport for your flight back home.
