This 10 days’ safari will give you an opportunity to experience 3 of the most exciting primate species in Uganda. The safari will start with chimpanzee trekking in the primate capital of the world – Kibale national park which is home to 13 primate species. The tour then continues to Bwindi impenetrable national park for the ultimate gorilla trekking experience and Mgahinga gorilla NP for Golden monkey trekking. End your visit with a relaxed visit by Lake Bunyonyi – you can choose to take a canoe to the different islands.

Day 1: Arrival to Uganda
Your 10 day Uganda primate trekking safari begins today with your arrival at Entebbe International Airport where you will be welcomed to Uganda by a Kagera Safaris representative. You will then be transferred to your hotel.

Day 2: Transfer to Kibale Forest national park
Kibale forest national park is the best safari destinations in Africa for chimpanzee trekking. Enjoy viewing of the beautiful scenery and photography moments as you transfer to Kibale Forest National Park.
On arrival you will check in to your lodge and rest as you look forward to tomorrow’s chimpanzee trekking activity. You have an opportunity to walk and explore the area near your lodge.

Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking and Bigodi Community walk
Today after breakfast you embark on the chimpanzee trekking. Chimpanzees share 97% of man’s DNA and are referred to as man’s closest relatives. The trek starts with a briefing from your ranger guide about your chimpanzee trek an experience that offers you at opportunity to view these primates in their natural habitat. Once in the forest, your ranger guide will lead the way until you locate the chimps. After locating the chimpanzees you are allowed to spend only one hour in their presence.
In the afternoon you will take on the Bigodi community walk which includes a visit to the wetland which is home to several birds and primate species. In addition to the wetland, you will visit different homesteads in the community and enjoy the coffee experience, banana beer making experience etc.

Day 4: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
On this day you will transfer to the home of mountain gorillas Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Bwindi impenetrable National Park is also home to bird species, butterflies, primates and mammals.
As you travel enjoy the beautiful scenery to get a real feel of Uganda and enjoy the terraced hills of Kigezi highlands. This is dependant on the sector of Bwindi national park you will be tracking from.

Day 5: Gorilla Trekking
Today you will hike through the impenetrable forest in search of the endangered mountain Gorillas. After briefing from the ranger guide, you will be divided into different groups depending on the gorilla family you will trek. After identifying your ranger guide and group, you will start the hike into the forest. Some of the trails to Gorilla groups are away from the briefing point so your guide will drive you to starting point.
Enjoy the day in the impenetrable forest, you have up to one hour with the gorillas once you locate them. You are advised to keep reasonable silence while watching them and flash photography is discouraged.

Day 6: Transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla national park
Mgahinga gorilla national park is located on the border with Rwanda and Congo in the southwestern corner of Uganda. The trip will take you through the beautiful hilly landscape of Kigezi region of Uganda. You will have different opportunities to stop and take photos of the beautiful scenery.

Day 7: Golden Monkey Trekking
Golden monkeys live in the Virunga ranges shared between Uganda, Rwanda and Congo. Your driver guide will transfer you to the briefing area before you start the golden monkey trek right after an early breakfast. After briefing, the ranger guide will lead you to the park where he will communicate with the earlier trackers for guidance on the direction of your trek.
Once you locate them, you are given 1 hour to spend in their presence. Unlike gorillas the golden monkey tend to be more active moving one area to another but such a beautiful sight.

Day 8: Batwa Trail & Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
Use the morning to visit the Batwa trail in the park. Here you will learn of how they lived in the forest and co-existed with the wildlife. They will take you through an experience from medicinal plants, perfumes, cooking, fetching water and climax with a visit to the cave. This is one of the best tour to take with the Batwa because it is conjunction with the national park.
Return to the center for picnic lunch after which you proceed to Lake Bunyonyi – the place of many little birds. The

Day 9: Lake Bunyonyi Islands Tour
Today will spent relaxing at the lodge or you can take a swim in the lake. Alternatively you can choose to take a 2 hour canoe ride visiting different islands and learning about the amazing stories from each of the islands. You can also choose to hike to some of hills for amazing views of the lake.

Day 10: Transfer to Entebbe
We do hope you had an amazing time exploring this country as you trekked the different primates in Uganda’s prime national parks. Today your driver guide will transfer you to the Airport for your exit flight.
